After a year of being together my boyfriend cheated, he also was all over a girl 2 years in, Both times were so drunk that he didn't remember them and some1 else had to tell him later. 6 months later I want to know how to move past this. He is swearing off drinking too much and wants to make it last

Can you trust him still? That's the main issue here. I disagree with the whole "once a cheater always a cheater" thing. But relationships revolve around trust. How do you feel? Do you feel like he will cheat again? Or do you trust that he won't? If you can't trust him, don't bother fixing anything. If you do trust him, or you're not sure if you do, take things slow. I would say be friends with him for now and see how things go. If he wants you and only you he will be willing to wait. But if he ever cheats again, that's it... Don't take him back. It's not worth the struggle or pain and he obviously doesn't love you if he does it again.

Don't be duped. The old "I was too drunk to know what I was doing" is one of the oldest excuses in the world. 99% of the time, it's BS but the girl buys it and lets the guy off the hook. Then he knows that he can use it anytime that he wants to play around. Don't fall for it. If he is really serious about making it work with you, and I hope he is, then he will swear off drinking, period. Not just drinking too much. You can't measure "too much". Cheating is a huge thing. It deserves a huge sacrifice to make up for it and that means no drinking. VOE
