Taken Advantage??

I am a work at home mom who has 4 kids ages 2, 3, 7 & 11. The youngest are home with me all day but I still have a customer service job that I do. My neighbor is always asking me to watch her 4 year old because "something came up and it'll be like 10 minutes"....then she is gone for over an hour!

If your neighbor is asking, then you get to give her an answer. A good answer is, "Sorry, can't right now. Something has come up and I can't take on anymore right now." Do this, or a variation of this, a few times and she will get the hint. VOE

Be firm and tell her that "Now is not a good time for the kids to have guests". If you are firm all the time, but still nice, she will eventually get it! PRD

Just tell her the truth which is that you have to work and having extra kids in the house is a hassle. Or maybe trade off every once in awhile where you get her kid for 2 hours and she gets yours for 2 hours. Kat
