Should I buy a new (used) car?

I have a 05 focus with $3500 left to pay on the loan. I commute 125 miles each day and this car has 103500 miles on it, I get about 26 MPG. I can buy a 2008 Yaris with 33000 miles on it for $11944, it should get about 30 MPG. Should I buy it?

Drive the old beater as long as you can. When it's paid off, save the same amount of money each month until you can buy a nicer car outright without going into debt. And never buy new, the depreciation begins as soon as you drive off the lot and it is a huge loss. VOE

if your current car is working properly, i'd stick w/ it til it's paid off and longer if possible...then you'd save that $ and maybe put a down payment on a brand new car in the future...or maybe (but hopefully not) fix any problems your current may have as the miles go up
