Ready To Go

I am in college and I hate it. I am doing just average in my classes, am lost on the campus, have few friends (okay, like none) and am so stressed out that I either sleep all the time or can not sleep at all. How do I tell my parents I wanna quit? They are paying for all of it.

WOW its like i just typed that!! i'm in my third year at university, my parents are paying for it all and i HATE it. My parents know i hate it and i've told them i want to drop out but they've pushed me every year to continue and I have. in high school it was the law to be there, college is an option so its easy to get demotivated and be negative about the experience becuase there is always a way out. Just stay positive and do it for your future. go for the four years and get a degree, and then you can leave and do what you want, and later on if you want to further your education you can go back. DON'T QUIT!! your getting an opportunity so many want, and are struggling to achieve. PLEASE don't throw it away, I know how you feel, just bite the bullet and get it over with!!- britt

You really do need just to tell your parents the truth about what you are thinking and how you are doing and what you want to do. They will understand. Steph

First of all, MAKE SURE that quitting college is what you want to do. It's hard to make it out in the real world without a college education, trust me. Maybe try a technical school? Or a community college? You are very lucky to have parents paying for all of that. I was SOOO stressed that I quit my freshmen year of college, and I went back a year later! I missed it, and I wanted to go somewhere in life. Maybe take a year off & work or something, until you figure out what you want to do! good luck!

College will always suck. Suck it up. No one wants to pay for their childs college if you just give up.

Most definitely be honest with your parents. It could be that you don't fit in well at this specific school. Maybe you could try a smaller or larger one at some point. It could be that you would be better off in a community college where you could live at home. Or maybe try a trade school. You don't have to give up on improving your education entirely, just find another way. Don't just stop going to class. You need to formally quit so that you don't damage your credibility in case you want to try again later on. Who knows, maybe in a couple of years you will be better prepared to give it another try. I think have a chat to your parents and tell them the problems you're having. There maybe ways that you can solve these issues without having to quit
