You're jumping to conclusions but you know your parents so you should know if they are bigoted or racist. Even though you are 22, I understand that you want them to like and accept your boyfriend. That makes sense. It also makes sense to have a frank discussion about their objections. Love is sometimes blind and you may be overlooking some serious character flaws that have your parents concerned. Ultimately, the decision as to who you date is yours but it doesn't hurt to talk with your parents to get their take. If their objection is race based, then you have your work cut out for you to convince them that your guy loves you, respects you, and cares for you which is what is important and what your parents should want for you. You need to find out the reason first, so just ask them why. If that is the reason its very sad and you should try and change their views. If you can't change their views then you'll just have to ignore them

Just ask them straight out why they do not like him. Maybe there is a really good reason that has nothing at all to do with his race. Scotty
