My mother won't let me have a Facebook account but. . .

I really want one and these days Facebook is basically a necessity, not just a want. Should I ask her timidly as always or demand one and give her good explanations as to why I should have one?

why do u have to ask to have a fb? I made one in sixth grade without asking anyone

tell her she can set the security so she knows you'll be safe and that you'll be sensible and let her have your password if neccessary so she knows there's nothing secretive or dangerous going on

Tell her you want a FB account and if she resists then tell her that she can have your password, you will keep your profile private and that you will not friend any strangers. Steph

Present your case like an adult, not like a child. That means not getting mad and throwing a tantrum and it means not using the argument that "all my friends have Facebook". Have a friend who uses FB show your mother how it works, how you can keep yourself safe and show her the advantages of it. If she remains against the idea, ask her at what age she would reconsider. You may have to negotiate and compromise a little. You don't mention your age and that is a big factor with kids. VOE
