How much money do I put towards my friends engagement?

A close mate from high school who I haven't seen much lately (last 10 years) has invited me to his engagement. My plus one won't be drinking and I'm unsure how much to chip in for his gift (I also might not drink or stay very long). I'm thinking $50, although that might not be enough.

100 bucks is standard isnt it ? I would put in 100 just in case you run into them again or need networks in future...???
