What guy hasn't had that happen? Sometimes it pays to plan and in this case, have a plan as to what you will say. It doesn't need to be cool or smooth, just friendly. "Hi, Amy. How do you think you did on that calculus test?" Sometimes that's all it takes to get a conversation going. Some tips: smile when you talk to her, it makes you look happy and friendly. Call her by name, everyone likes to hear someone else say their name. Look her in the eyes, especially when she is talking to you. Don't dominate the conversation. Don't drag out the conversation. When it starts to get awkward, say "Whoops, gotta run. Talk to you later, ok?" And keep smiling when you say all of this. The nest time will be easier. VOE
