Boyfriend's deadbeat brother wants to move in with us

I have lived with my boyfriend for 18 months. His deadbeat brother has been kicked out of home because of his drinking, drug use and bad behaviour. My boyfriend feels sorry for him and thinks he should live with us. I am very worried about how this will affect our relationship.

Too bad you aren't married because you really have no say in the matter. It's your boyfriend's house and he can have anyone he wants live with him. You will suffer in this arrangement, and only you.

It sounds like this pattern of behavior will continue as long as the brother has someone to bail him out. Its time for tough love. Your boyfriend will become an enabler out of guilt and empathy rather than realizing by saying no his brother will have to take responsibilty for his own actions. Good Luck...and yes it would put a strain on your relationship.

You could try finding him another place.. but thats up to you if you can be bothered... otherwise accept... set rules and boundaries after all it is yours and your boyfriends house... if he crosses the line in any way hes out. Urge for him to get a job and try clean up
